  1. Is it true we had family in the Alamo? Some one said that Greg Esparza and his brother who faught with Santa Ana . I am the Granddaughter of Eva Herrera Gonzales

    1. Gregorio Esparza fought for the Texas Side inside the Alamo. His brother Francisco fought with Mexican side. I recommend the book Gragorio Esparza Alamo Hero by Cahndice Smith Matthews ISBN 1-57168-061-6 buy it on Amazon or get it at your local public library. If you want to find out if your related very possible, I need more information from you, feel free to call me anytime 210-384-9093, if you live in San Antonio you can visit me at my home

  2. Hi, my name is Maria. I met a lady at Villa del Carmen cemetery and she is trying to locate the location of her g grandfather, Jose Maria Huron burial site. She knows his brothers are buried at Carmen cemetery. I have searched on Ancestry but unable to locate him. His wife was Maria Ignacia de la Garza.
Her email is gonzales.anthony0847@gmail.com. Thank you in advance.

    1. I think I can answer your questions feel free to call me anytime 210-384-9093. I do have info on Jose Huron and Ignacia de la Garza they are listed in the 1815 and 1825 census of La Bahia (now called Goliad, Texas). San Fernando burial record December 10, 1845 list Ignacia Guerra widow of Jose Huron. I think the brothers you are referring to are Jose Maria, Viviano, and Esteven Huron, sons of Jose Huron and Maria Ignacia de la Garza

    1. The farthest back I can document Jose Huron that is married to Maria Ignacia
Garza are the 1815 and 1825 census of La Bahia (now called Goliad, Texas). There are many stories and theories on the Huron (Uron) families all of them handed down by word of mouth with no proof. How many times have I heard my grandma said, but no proof. Don’t get wrong the stories are very good and I do keep track of them and probably make a good movie and who knows I might be wrong and if I am show me the documents. Others researching the family have come to the same conclusion.

  3. Eloy Gonzales Huizar

Andrew, one of the connections to the Huizar-Esparza Family is the marriage of Seferino Villareal Huizar who married Juanita Leal Esparza in Atascosa County in1877. This marriage was blessed with 12 children, one of whom was my grandfather Claudio Esparza Huizar, who married Carolina Vasquez. I have been working on both Huizar and Esparza family information and would be happy to share any information you or anyone else would find interesting and helpful. My e-mail address is ehuizar225@yahoo.com.

There is an Esparza Family Reunion planned for July 2023 in Floresville, Texas which is very well attended. If anyone is related or would like to attend, they would be welcome.

I also have a connection to the Huron and Gil families. My great-grandmother was Dolores Tejeda Cuellar, sister of Natalia Tejeda Cuellar who married Viviano Huron in 1872.
